The BSA 650cc A10 was transformed into many different models during its production, but were all more or less the same bike with a variation on a theme. The super rare Spitfire Scrambler was aimed directly at the American market, single seat, high exhaust pipes and ‘peanut’ fuel tank being the trade mark street scrambler styling that has become so popular in the current classic and custom motorcycle scene today. Also known as the Rocket Gold Star Scrambler genuine examples are very rare, very expensive and are hardly ever seen in Europe, therefore good replica’s built from essentially the same components are equally as desirable. This absolutely stunning bike was built by BSA specialist Mike Baker at Lyford Classics to shows standard using mostly brand new parts.
Having only just been completed it has covered a few hundred test miles and will need to continue to be run. The engine has received a a full and complete rebuild with a reground crank and drive side roller bearing, 8:25:1 high compression pistons and 356 cams. The gearbox has also been rebuilt and the bike has been assembled with as mainly stainless fasteners and fitted with 12 volt electronic ignition. A list of the work is provided with it along with UK V5C logbook and an MoT, plus starting and running in instructions. This really is a fantastic bike that needs to be seen to appreciated.
