The dual-cam Benelli Sport 500 was produced in 1934 on the back of the company’s racing experience, with Tonino Benelli winning the Italian championship four times in a row between 1927 and 1930 with OHV engines. The lines were larger and more imposing in order to house the new 493 cc engine. The Sport 500, accompanied by a sidecar in the “super” version, was immediately considered one of the most beautiful and technologically advanced bikes of the age. The engine is a four-stroke single-cylinder model, tilted forwards 12 degrees. The cylinder and head were made of cast iron, with a dual exhaust pipe.
