The Vespa “Farobasso” 98 cc IV Serie was manufactured between 1947 and 1948. It took its name (low headlight) from the characteristic headlight placement on the front mudguard. Like the previous version, the Vespa Numero 3, the handlebar did not have a sheet-metal covering. It is an extremely tough two-wheeler, designed for long journeys and the rough roads typical in Italy immediately after the war. There are no rear shocks, but this function is provided by the springs in the saddle. The front suspension is mounted on the left-hand side of the wheel.
