Each evening you will stay in a town with the opportunity to taste and tour top Colorado craft breweries. Breckenridge, Crested Butte, Durango and Telluride are some highlight destinations, each hosting excellent dining and custom cold brews. The famous Million Dollar Highway, Independence, Monarch and Loveland Passes will leave you breathless, and keep an eye out for elk, moose, pronghorn, and maybe even bear! DAY 1: DENVER TO STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – 221 MILES
Get the feel of the open road as you kick off the tour! You’ll ride beautiful Clear Creek Canyon as you head out of Denver up the infamous “Peak to Peak” highway north to Estes Park – a scenic twisty ride up the east side of the front range mountains. Once in Estes Park you can enjoy a tasty lunch before getting ready to ride through, and enjoy, the Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP). The RMNP has one of the highest, most beautiful roads in the western US. Enjoy the wildlife, scenery, and take lots of photos as you make your way west through the park over to Grand Lake (largest body of water in Colorado). From Grand Lake you will make your way west over Rabbit Ears pass into the quaint ski town of Steamboat Springs for the evening. Enjoy an incredible dinner and craft beer at Mahogany Ridge downtown Steamboat Springs, they brew their beer onsite and serve it fresh each evening!
DAY 2: STEAMBOAT SPRINGS TO CRESTED BUTTE – 311 MILES
Day two is an incredible ride down to Eagle, CO via a twisty two lane highway. From Eagle you’ll have a quick jaunt over to highway 24 which lets south through the historic mining town of Leadville, CO. Stop here for a coffee break as you take in some of the gold mining history of Colorado’s past. From Leadville you’ll continue south and prepare to tackle one of the most beautiful roads in Colorado – Independence pass. Independence pass will eventually take you into the back side of Aspen, a wealthy mountain boasting summer homes for some of the most wealthy individuals in world. From Aspen you’ll head over to your eventual destination, Crested Butte, CO. Crested Butte is home to Irwin Brewing and The Eldo Brewery, if you are up for more sampling, check them out that evening!
DAY 3: CRESTED BUTTE TO DURANGO – 260 MILES
The third day of riding takes us through some wonderful canyon roads into Lake City and onto Creede. At the town site of the assassination of Jesse James and Robert Ford. Check out some epic gold and silver mining history, then have a tasty burger at Tommyknockers Tavern for lunch. Filled up and fueled up, you’ll head down to South Fork, and back over the Continental Divide via Wolf Creek Pass (10,857), following alongside the South Fork of the Rio Grande, into Pagosa Springs, and on to Durango you go! Here you can enjoy a great afternoon downtown, and some epic beer tasting and touring from some of Colorado’s best breweries – Steamworks Brewing, Durango Brewing, and Ska Brewing Company.
DAY 4: DURANGO TO TELLURIDE – 130 MILES
The definite highlight ride of the tour – a slow winding ride up the incredible Million Dollar Highway. Supposedly named as the dirt beneath the road is said to contain millions of dollars in gold ore! Throughout this day, you’ll ride several summits including Coal Bank Pass (10,640 ft), Molas Pass (10,970 ft), and Red Mountain Pass (11,018 ft). You’ll cruise alongside dozens of old mining structures and tailings as you wind along steep canyon walls and sheer drop offs. Keep an eye out for Bighorn Sheep along the twists and turns! Then after lunch in the historic town of Silverton, ride the best section of the Million Dollar Highway on through Ouray, and into Telluride for the night. Spend a relaxing evening exploring this iconic ski town, enjoy amazing craft beers at Telluride Brewing Company, then take a gondola ride to Mountain Village at 9,540 feet for dinner and warm conversation next to the fire pit. It’s a perfect way to spend the evening!
DAY 5: TELLURIDE TO BRECKENRIDGE – 303 MILES
Today’s stunning ride will take you across the Blue Mesa Reservoir and into Gunnison, a perfect place for a break or lunch. Kickstands up as you climb back over the Continental Divide, and at 11,312 feet, Monarch is one of the highest passes in Colorado. From there you will make your way over to iconic ski town of Breckenridge, CO. Outdoor activities and shopping abound in this incredible town. While you are out enjoy the evening, don’t forget to pay a visit to Breckenridge Brewery and sample some of their exquisite beer.
DAY 6: BRECKENRIDGE TO DENVER 182 MILES
On the route back to Denver, you’ll ride the scenic Highway 50 through the Royal Gorge Canyon alongside the raging rapids of the Arkansas. It turns north, taking you up some scenic backcountry roads past the Florissant Fossil Beds, and into Woodland Park. After a stop at a favorite local motorcycle hangout for lunch in Deckers, you’ll finish up this epic ride alongside the Platte River and make the way back to Denver. A well deserved dinner and a few more craft brews await.
