Six Motul Teams Gunning For Glory In 2022

With motorsport season well and truly underway, let’s take a closer look at six Motul-backed teams who are going all out for podium glory in 2022. Motul is supporting many motorsport categories worldwide and is helping teams big and small in their quest for victory. As a technical partner, Motul’s products improve overall engine performance and reliability by providing optimal lubrication. There is a reason the V in Motul 300V refers to the word ‘Victory’!

GLICKENHAUS AT 24 HOURS OF LE MANS

In a world of big-budget, corporate racing teams, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus shows that passion, pride, and perfection can go a long way. Its founder, Jim Glickenhaus, isn’t afraid of a challenge, or to dream big. He said: “We find the toughest races in the world, the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, the Baja 1000, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and design vehicles to compete in those challenges. Then we make road-legal versions.” After earning their stripes at the 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans, and finishing both cars in the top five, their sights are set on 2022.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans runs from 11 – 12 June

MCGUINNESS ON A HONDA AT THE IOM TT

This year, John McGuinness is back on a Honda and back at the Isle of Man TT. In the same year he turns 50, the legend will mark his 100th start at the TT. John has scored 23 victories at the famous race, a record only beaten by the late, great Joey Dunlop. This year John will ride onboard Honda’s CBR1000RR-R FIREBLADE as part of Honda UK’s Motul-backed road racing team. We. Cannot. Wait!

The Isle of Man TT runs from 28 May to 11 June

BMW RLL MOTORSPORT AT SEBRING 12HRS

After their impressive double podium at last year’s Twelve Hours of Sebring, the BMW Team RLL will be aiming for a shot at the top spot. As a dedicated partner to BMW M Motorsport, Motul lends its name to the BMW M Team RLL cars. “After two years of successful partnership, including the 2020 24h Daytona win, we are very proud to continue our adventure together”, said Romain Grabowski, head of brand at Motul. “This is not only a partnership renewal, but also a real challenge for our two companies with the introduction of the brand new Motul BMW M4 GT3 as we have both been cooperating together on its technical development. We are hoping to provide BMW fans from all over the world with great excitement as well as top quality engine oil, allowing them to extract maximum power output from their BMW engines while benefiting from maximum protection.”

TEAM HRC AND GAJSER AT MXGP

After narrowly missing out on championship victory in last year’s MXGP, Team HRC’s Tim Gajser is one to watch this year. With only three months of downtime between the two championships, the four-time world champion is raring to go with the action kicking off at one of his favourite tracks, Matterley Basin in the United Kingdom.

YOSHIMURA SERT MOTUL AT EWC

After a thrilling victory last year for Yoshimura SERT Motul in the FIM Endurance World Championship, a team that was newly created before the event, the team will be redoubling efforts this year to keep up the impressive pace onboard the Suzuki GSX-R 1000R. Speaking about the partnership with Motul, which helped the team secure victory, Yohei Kato, technical director of Yoshimura SERT Motul, said: “I am very happy to partner with Motul. They support us on the technical side and in every new development or concept we work on together with the Japanese Motul R&D lab. They support us with their lubrication knowledge and are eager to develop specific lubricants together with our engineers. Especially for the 24-hour races, I worry about everything. That’s why I really appreciate their support.”

The EWC starts on 16 April at the 24 Heures Moto of Le Mans

SUZUKI AND PRAMAC AT MOTOGP

After a stellar 2021, when Motul-backed teams finished in the top five, the outlook for 2022 looks exciting indeed. Last year, Team Suzuki ECSTAR’s Joan Mir finished third in the championship (with teammate Alex Rins bringing the bike home in 13th place), while Pramac Racing’s Johann Zarco finished fifth (and teammate Jorge Martin in 9th). Can a Motul bike cross the finish line in the top spot this year?
