Declared manufactured 28th Sept 1956 this matching number Speed Twin was imported and registered in 6th UK in 2011. Anthony Godin understand that it was restored in about 2019 and remains in very fine overall order and in good running condition.
Speed Twin production started again in 1947 after the Triumph factory was destroyed in 1940 during the WWII bombing of Coventry, the main production change was in 1955 when the rear sprung hub was replaced by a swinging arm rear suspension.
This model was attributed with the regeneration of Triumph motorcycles in the post War period, the ‘Anthracite Red’ colour was considered quite radical at the time as most bikes were painted in the austere looking black. Today the stying has become something of an icon. This great looking example is suppled with a small history file showing recent maintenance, a workshop manual and the current UK V5C.
