The Malle Mile Great Big Ten Year Anniversary

There was a moment The Malle Mile idea started and it’s the same story that has been repeated by a million motorcyclists over the last 100 years and I’m certain it will continue to happen for the next 100 years… you suddenly find yourself on a deserted road, or in a deserted field with a motorcycle and the thought pops into your head, ‘I wonder how fast I can go?’.

Waiting at the lights with a friend beside you, a shared glance… the light goes green, the flag drops, the gate opens… before your conscious brain has a chance to rationalize the situation, or make a plan, the throttle is open, the sparks are flying, the noise is increasing and you’re thrust forward, into the drag race….into the future.
It was just before midnight in East London, on a deserted road, 2 sets of perfectly placed traffic lights were red. 2 front wheels rolled onto the line, the briefest of side ways glances and suddenly the drag race was happening, elbows up, heads down, nothing to win, everything to lose. Short, sweet, fast and fun. That’s when the nucleus of The Mile started, from a pure drag race.

Suddenly, you then find yourself 10 years later, in the future/present, still on a drag race start line, but surrounded by so many wild machines, friends, fire sculptures, flaming dancers, bands, artists, family and beautiful chaos of our own making. These are the good old days.
When good people get together from all over the world, all connected by 2 shared passions, a passion for motorcycles and adventures, good things will happen. Thank you to you all for making The Mile happen, more than ever The Mile is yours!
